_2000
The Chevrolet Camaro continued with the same basic package for 2000, with the addition of appearance and audio upgrades. New 16-inch aluminum wheels are standard on Z28 trims, with polished wheels optional on all trims. The SS Package now features new 17-inch aluminum wheels. Steering-wheel-mounted radio controls are available, as is an optional CD changer.
History: Chevrolet introduced the 1967 Camaro as its entry into what would later be called the "pony car" segment. Although it has always been available with options to suit a wide range of sports-coupe buyers, performance has been what the name Camaro brings to mind for most people. The Camaro continues the muscle-car tradition as a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports coupe or convertible with available V8 power. The fourth-generation Camaro was introduced as a 1994 model and in 1998 received a major refreshing with body upgrades including a new front fascia, a new hood, composite reflector headlamps, and new fenders. The 1998 model also received chassis upgrades, a new 4-wheel disc brake system and a new anti-lock brake system (ABS).
Model Details: The 2000 Chevrolet Camaro is available in four models: Camaro Coupe, Camaro Convertible, Z28 Coupe and Z28 Convertible. Safety features include dual airbags, an anti-lock brake system (ABS), daytime running lights with automatic exterior light control, and optional traction control. The standard powertrain on the Camaro Coupe and Convertible is a 200-horsepower 3.8-liter V6 engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, with an optional 4-speed automatic transmission available. The Z28 Coupe and Convertible feature a 305-horsepower 5.7-liter V8 with a standard 4-speed automatic transmission; a 6-speed manual transmission is available at no extra cost. Standard equipment on all Camaros includes air conditioning, cloth reclining front bucket seats, an AM/FM stereo with cassette player, a tilt steering column, a theft-deterrent system, and 16-inch wheels and tires. The Z28 upgrades include a 200-watt Monsoon stereo system, 16-inch aluminum wheels, and a Zexel Torsen limited-slip differential. Also available on Z28 trims is the SS package, which increases horsepower to 320 and adds low-restriction exhaust with dual 2.75-inch tailpipes, SS-specific 17-inch aluminum wheels, high-performance tires, a unique rear spoiler and a forced-air induction fiberglass hood. 2000 Engines
